Watch & Learn: Debrand Textile Circularity Workshop

The fashion industry is in the midst of a transformative journey towards sustainability and responsibility. Recently, our team hosted a workshop with industry professionals aimed at fostering candid and uncomfortable conversations within the fashion community. The goal? To inspire change and accountability within the industry, and to raise awareness about the impact of the goods we produce and consume.

With over 15 years of experience supporting apparel and footwear brands across North America, Debrand is driven by a mission to find the worth in waste by elevating the value we place on clothing and the resources used to make them. We want to create a net-positive impact on our planet, consumers, and the industry as a whole – and this requires a collaborative ecosystem. Through the use of next-life logistics, we want to contribute to this ecosystem by incorporating circular principles and building systems of sustainability.

But what exactly is next-life logistics, and how does it fit into textile circularity? Put simply, next-life logistics helps brands extend the life of their products—and the precious resources used to make them—in as many times and ways as possible. It offers the most mutually beneficial path for a company and the planet, whether that’s resale, donation, repair, recycling, or responsible disposal.

Our interactive textile circularity workshop shows you how a product’s life cycle extends far beyond buying and wearing, and dives into some of the details around collecting, sorting, grading, and determining its next-life.

If you’ve ever wondered what you can do as a consumer, or an industry insider, this workshop seeks to educate both perspectives. We dive into frameworks like the Waste Hierarchy and the Garment Condition Hierarchy, which highlight the importance of reusing and recycling garments to prevent items being sent to landfill. Our team wants to ensure that every decision made contributes to a more sustainable future for fashion.

So, whether you’re a consumer or an industry professional, this workshop offers insightful information into the complexities of sustainable fashion decisions. Watch this engaging workshop and challenge yourself to redefine how you think about fashion, sustainability, and our shared responsibility for the future.
